Fine-line tattooing uses very thin needle groupings for delicate, precise work: florals, butterflies, script, small symbols and detailed illustrative pieces. Soulraven Studios does fine-line work in black and grey, sized so the lines stay crisp as the tattoo heals.
Fine line looks effortless and is anything but. Thin lines have no shading to hide behind, so every curve has to be steady and every line the same weight. It is a large part of the studio’s smaller work: flowers along a collarbone, a butterfly on the chest, script down the ribs, a small symbol on the wrist.
The one honest caveat: fine lines soften a little as they age, and very tiny, very detailed designs can blur together. The studio will tell you when a design needs to grow or simplify to stay clean for the long run.

Do fine-line tattoos hurt less?
Slightly, because a single fine needle is less work on the skin than heavy shading, but placement still matters more than needle size.
Will a fine-line tattoo fade?
All tattoos soften with age and sun. Fine line shows it sooner, so keep it out of the sun and expect a possible touch-up years down the line.
